Shirley A. Headrick

Shirley A. Headrick (September 28, 1928 - January 27, 2022) passed away peacefully on January 27 under the staff’s loving care at Garden View Care Center (GVCC) of Chesterfield. She was ninety-three years old. Shirley was the ninth of ten children born to the late Ernest Elmer Headrick and Katharine Anna Headrick (nee Georges). She is survived by her brother Garrett Headrick and sisters-in-law Lee Headrick and Charlotte Headrick, all of St. Louis County. Shirley had many loving nieces and nephews. Shirley’s parents raised nine children – seven daughters and two sons. Shirley was preceded in passing by her siblings Mildred Headrick Cudd, Dorothy Cohen, Grace Headrick, Donald Headrick, Mary Headrick, Ruth Rich, Jane Ryan, and James Headrick. All of the Headrick children were graduates of the Ritenour School System with Shirley being a member of the Class of 1946. She was active in the planning of the several class reunions. Shirley retired as a secretary to managers at Monsanto Company and Emerson Electric Co. Shirley’s devotion to family was unexcelled. She was the family’s caregiver. Her care was always given with compassion and unconditional love. As a youth Shirley was a very good softball player. Her joy, however, was golf. She played in several golf leagues while with Monsanto. She was a faithful fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. A memorial service will be held at a date to be determined at Ivy Chapel, UCC at 620 N. Woods Mill Rd., Chesterfield.
