Peter A. DaPrato
November 30, 1947 - March 25, 2020
Peter A. DaPrato of O’Fallon, MO died Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at Barnes Hospital after a brave battle with lung cancer. Born in St. Louis on November 30th, 1947, Pete grew up in Bellefontaine Neighbors, graduating from Rosary High School in 1966. He attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, MO, graduating in 1970. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Helen DaPrato and his sister, Martina DaPrato. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jacqueline (Pantaleo) DaPrato; children, Peter DaPrato (Kelly) and Jackie Hamel (Mike); 3 grandchildren, Kate Hamel, Maggie Hamel and Luca DaPrato; twin brother Mike (Jan); younger brother Tom; and a large beloved extended family and friends. Pete worked for Central Hardware for 20 years. He later worked for a local family software company, OnSite Systems for an additional 15 years with his son and twin brother. After 25 years, Pete proudly retired from the US Air Force Reserve, where he served as a fireman. Being a fireman was one of his true loves. Pete’s true passion was his family and his grandchildren. He loved extravaganzas, both in the meats he grilled and the electronics he bought. No matter what he did, he did it in excess, to perfection and with a smile. No piece of meat was too big and no new gadget was too expensive. Nothing will be the same without him. Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital are appreciated. A Celebration of Pete’s life will be planned at a later date.
