James (Jim) Mitchell DePaul, 73, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2020. Jim was born August 24, 1946, to Michael and Felicity (Doherty) DePaul in New York, New York, the youngest of two children. He graduated from North Miami Beach High School in 1963. Jim enlisted right after high school and served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War ending his military career with the rank of Sergeant. Jim served in Vietnam, even though he had the option not to, given his only brother was already actively serving in Vietnam. After leaving the military, he met his beautiful bride of 51 years, Deborah Jean Mansur. They were married in Miami, Florida in 1969. In 1967, Jim began his lifetime career in the airfreight logistics industry, starting out in Miami as a driver and then moving into management with Emery Airfreight. He later moved to St. Louis in 1988 where he managed an airfreight terminal. In 1998, he returned to Florida with Consolidated Freight. He later retired in Chicago in 2012 from UPS after spending 45 years with airfreight logistics. Deborah and Jim returned to St. Louis to enjoy retirement with family and friends. He was a lifetime University of Florida Gator fan, enjoyed reading and working on projects in their beautiful home. Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Deborah; loving father “Pops” to, Jim (Donna) DePaul and Chris (Susan) DePaul; proud Grandpa to Ashley Longworth, Lindsay and Kelsey Welch and Ethan and Charlotte DePaul; great grandchildren, Liam and Emma Longworth; dear brother, Michael (Judy) DePaul. Jim was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at Ascension Catholic Church, 230 Santa Maria Dr., Chesterfield, MO 63005, on Tuesday, August 25, 2020. Viewing at 9:00 a.m., Mass beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment to immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
