Eugene (Gene) Carl Wilson, 84, passed away on February 5th, 2017. He was the husband of Shirley Wilson. They shared 45 happy years together, 31 of those splendid years spent in marriage. Gene was born in Saint Louis, Missouri on December 2, 1932 to Clinton and Marie Wilson. He graduated high school from Beaumont High School in 1950. He then spent 40 years working as a switchmen with the Terminal Railroad. He thoroughly enjoyed his work and time at the railroad, especially with the men and women he worked along side. He always felt like it was brotherhood working with his close friends at Terminal Railroad. Gene was also a member of Have Bible Will Travel Church with his wife. Over the past 45 years, Gene and Shirley thoroughly enjoyed spending time with their family and friends. He loved fishing, bowling and playing the trumpet, which in later years he would switch out to playing the organ instead. He enjoyed playing cards and going out to the horse track to watch the races. He also had a great time going to sleepy eyed conventions and going on short trips with his family and friends. Apart from his hobbies and enjoyment, Gene will be remembered for his sharp tongue, sense of humor, and sending jokes to everyone. No one will forget the day he found out how to use email, because from then on, there was no end to the continuous flow of jokes he would send to give laughter and humor to everyone. Gene is survived by his daughters Jan (husband Stacy) Nikoley, Christine McKenzie, Beverly (husband John) Cornish, and son Keith (partner Sherri) Wilson, whom he had during his previous marriage to Laverne Bruder. He is also survived by his four step-children from his current wife Shirley (Smith) Wilson: Andy (wife Lynn) Fisher, Mike (wife Sharon) Fisher, Linda (husband Dennis) Muir, and Sandy (husband John) Blaser. In addition, he is survived by 18 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, two nephews, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Eugene Wilson, and his brother Woodrow Wilson. The funeral service will be on February 10, 2017 at 1:00pm at Buchholz Mortuary located at 1645 Redman Road, Saint Louis, MO. Following the service, there will be a procession and ceremony at Memorial Park Cemetery located at 5200 Lucas-Hunt Road, Saint Louis, MO. The visitation will be held from 11:00 am to the time of the service. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers would be much appreciated and may be made to the Diabete Association or another charity of your choice.
